Lots of battle pics, videos

Many photos and videos from the New York set of The Dark Knight Rises show a huge battle featuring Batman (Christian Bale), Bane (Tom Hardy), Nixon (Matthew Modine), the Gotham police department (Joseph Gordon-Levitt and various others) and Bane's mercenaries (Josh Stewart and various others), who are believed to be the League of Shadows. This shoot reportedly broke the New York City record for most paid extras in a single scene.

Worth noting is that despite the fact that Nixon was said to be a villain, he is shown to be a police sergeant in these photos. Is he a double agent?

Also, his badge does not read "Nixon" but "Finch". Is he related to Carl Finch (Larry Holden), the District Attorney murdered by the League of Shadows in Batman Begins?

Here are some set reports which detail the state of Gotham in the movie:

- "Both Hardy and Bale were there, I'm pretty sure they lost the daylight though"

- "It wasn't about winning, it was about getting the cops through the mercs. We were instructed to show resistance but to let them through, especially Modine."

"Money makes you ugly"

"Corporations constructed Greed"

SPOILER WARNING: "According to this guy Gotham has been under Bane's control for months and the police force has been locked away underground for months and in this scene they're recently broken out and rearmed and intend to take back City hall from Bane" -Raganork8

-"Yes, I was right next to Bale when he started on his path of combat towards Bane. Hardy and Bale were in costume and looked awesome!"

-"No, he came out with the winter jacket but when he was fighting, he had the brown long sleeves on under the vest. He took his mask off when their fighting was done "-darkjedi4z (SHH NY Ninja)
