Rated Awesome parody

Rated Awesome have done a parody of The Dark Knight Rises, in which Batman struggles to stop Bane Cook (a piss-take of Bane and comedian Dane Cook) from destroying the world's sense of humour.

Temple playing Harley Quinn?

According to Variety's Jeff Schneider, Juno Temple is rumoured to be playing Harley Quinn in The Dark Knight Rises. This is very much unconfirmed, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Furthermore, IMDB claims that she is playing Holly Robinson. For now, she is simply a "street-smart Gotham girl."

Temple is the daughter of British filmmaker Julien Temple. She has previously starred with Emma Roberts in Wild Child, Atonement with James McAvoy, Mr. Nobody and Glorious 39 with Toby Regbo and Greenberg with Ben Stiller. She will appear in the upcoming The Three Musketeers with Orlando Bloom.

Harley Quinn is the sidekick of The Joker (Heath Ledger), whilst Holly Robinson is the best friend and sometime accomplice of Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Anne Hathaway).

Filming in El Camino

The Dark Knight Rises is filming off of Redondo Beach Blvd, near El Camino Collage in Torrance, CA. From what we’ve heard they have a set in Alondra Park and the best view is from the the top floor of the new parking structure for El Camino.

Hardy responds to negative comments

Tom Hardy has talked about negative comments he has read about his character Bane:

"I do read comments and I cry. I can't cry for everybody. So many people love him. And when you step into that role - you are going to fail. And be judged. Just trust me. I trust Nolan."

He says that he was 179lbs during Warrior and has increased his body weight to 190lbs to play Bane. But he adds that Batman fans aren't satisfied with his current size and would like to see him at 220 pounds, and jokingly corrects himself an implies that might even want him at 400 pounds.

He also talks about how immensely the fans love the character of Bane, and he feels there is no way he can please everyone, he any actor is destined to "fail" when placed into a situation like that.

Freeman set pics

Set pics from California have given us the first glimpse of Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox in The Dark Knight Rises. Fox is the head of Wayne Enterprises and supplies Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale) with the effects he uses to fight injustice:

New Batcave revealed

According to WalesOnline, Brecon Beacons will be used as the Batcave in The Dark Knight Rises. The site reports that a waterfall will double for the exterior of the cave: "The 90ft waterfall near the village of Coelbren is the highest in the park and a tourist favourite because of a path that takes intrepid walkers behind the waterfall."

A local who spotted the film being shot said: "They were there for a couple of days just a few weeks ago. I understand it’s going to be used in the opening sequence of the film, as Batman discovers the Batcave. But we’ll have to wait and see."

Samantha Games, of the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, said the region is popular with filmmakers because of its unspoilt views and easy access:

"We work hard to help filmmakers find the perfect location, whether it is on our land or land owned by other authorities like the National Trust. I think it’s becoming more and more popular as word gets around and, with its huge vistas, lack of things like electricity pylons and the professionalism of local contractors it is a perfect location."

"We have always got someone filming here, whether its for adverts, TV shows or big-budget films like Clash of the Titans. Something like that just generates such a boost for the Welsh economy."

The Batcave was last seen in Batman Begins. When Wayne Manor was destroyed, Bruce (Christian Bale) vowed to rebuild it exactly as it had been, before Alfred (Michael Caine) suggested they update the Batcave.

It can be seen below:

Catwoman costume to have ears?

According to Manny the Movie Guy, Catwoman's goggles will become catlike ears in The Dark Knight Rises:

"One of my inside sources who shall remained nameless -- there's an embargo put upon journalists who visited the set, they can't talk about their experience until next year (sucks!). But my friend talked to me of course, and revealed, that Catwoman's goggles, when pulled back like a headband, will take the form of cat's ears much like the image of Catwoman we all know and loved! Imagine the goggles pulled back and it will reveal the pointy cat ears by way of those funky blue lights."

Vehicles spotted in California

Several vehicles that will be used in The Dark Knight Rises have been spotted in California. They include a car and motorcycles belonging to the Gotham Police Department, as well as a Gotham City Cab.

Hathaway interviewed by Screenrush

Screenrush also did an extensive interview with Anne Hathaway about The Dark Knight Rises:

Are you happy to be able to finally talk about the movie?

"I’m happy to be able to talk about the movie as much as I can. Obviously a few secrets are out now so I can discuss certain things, but quite a few things are still under wraps."

What is your reaction to the photo getting out online?

"I asked people to check it out for me…It’s a little overwhelming."

Can you talk about stepping into the shoes of such an iconic character? A lot of people grew up with Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman and Eartha Kitt. How does it feel to be Catwoman?

"Well the first thing you have to say is what an honor. It was funny for me because when I got my start, I kind of got my big break with The Princess Diaries and during the press rounds for that everyone asked me: “Did you always want to be a princess growing up?” And the truth was, no I wanted to be Catwoman. And I think a lot of women feel that way. And the fact that I am actually her is such a dream come true. It’s such a pinch me moment. And the fact that I am Catwoman in Chris Nolan’s Gotham to Christian Bale’s Batman is unbelievably cool."

When you got this role, what did Chris tell you about not letting any secrets out?

"It’s sort of implied that everything is meant to be kept under wraps as possible. The production isn’t called Batman, it has another name (Magnus Rex). When I first read the script I couldn’t take it home with me, I had to read it in a locked room. Maybe the room wasn’t locked, I could be adding that for dramatic effect…but you know…"

How do you learn your lines if you can’t even take the script home with you?

"I read it through once really fast and I went back and read over all of my scenes and tried to memorize them as much as I could. It’s cool, you can call Chris and ask “what is this scene about again?” and eventually you get a copy of the script. But everything is done with the utmost secrecy. When I screen tested, I took the sides (audition material) home with me. And it was really awkward because the producer had to hunt me down to get the sides back so that they could be destroyed. So it’s implied that this should be treated with a certain amount of secrecy which is great because I think it is so much more fun to discover it in the movie theatre when there is so much anticipation about the movie. I’m excited for people to discover it when it’s all pieced together the way Chris wants it."

"What has been the physical challenge of this role for you so far?

"I’d always thought I was pretty healthy (she’s a vegetarian) and I always thought I had worked hard in the gym and it turns out that what I thought was hard is actually light to moderate in Catwoman’s world. I’ve had to ratch it up a notch. I have the most incredible stunt woman in the world and she’s got me and the character to another level."

Why did you want to be Catwoman when you were a kid?

"I loved Catwoman’s sense of humor. I love how sly she is. I love how she walks the fence and you don’t know which side she’s going to come down on. She’s totally independent. Let’s face it, she’s badass."

Who is your favorite Catwoman?

"They have all been great. Each Catwoman is specific to the Gotham city she lives in and the director that helps shape her. So it’s kind of hard to have a favorite and I’m not just being political, it’s hard to have a favorite because each one is so specific. And you look back at the history of the comic and Catwoman gets reinvented every ten to fifteen years anyway. You can have preferences but the core of the character remains."

Did you look at any of them as inspiration?

"I grew up with all of them so I was well acquainted with the character’s dimension; she’s one of my favorite characters in the comic book world and in the movie world. But I didn’t go back to any of the other ones because I’m in Chris’s Gotham City. For me it didn’t make a lot of sense to look at them for inspiration, even as extraordinary a performance that Michelle Pfeiffer gave, that was Tim Burton’s Gotham."

Have you been filming with IMAX cameras doing dialogue scenes?

"We have been yes."

What is that like because those cameras make a lot of noise or have you not noticed that?

"I have noticed the noise because it sounds like a cappuccino being made constantly! (Laughs) For the fight sequences I actually love it because it keeps you out of your head and it adds to the adrenalin somehow. But I haven’t shot that many of the dialogue scenes yet."

After Christian Bale you are the most high profile person in the cast at this point in time– is this movie going to be important for your career?

"Obviously Christian is Batman and it’s the Batman series and he’s the star of it. One of the things that I love about working with Christian and this franchise is that it does feel like an ensemble each time. Christian is the leader of the actors and he is so lovely so I haven’t really thought about it to be honest."

What are the styles of Martial arts you do in the film? Don’t you have a dance background?

"Yes, I do. I don’t actually know the name of it – sorry this makes me sound like an airhead. The stunt department are all phenomenal fighters and so I’ve just been mimicking them and doing whatever they tell me to do. I do all sorts of kicks. I do a roundhouse kick, I think its all mixed martial arts. I don’t know what the martial arts technique is called but I’ve been doing it in heels!"

How does it feel to be Chris Nolan’s first cool action hero female?

"I didn’t realise I was the first and I feel a little nauseous. I couldn’t feel more privileged to walk on the set every day. I’m the most annoying chipper person, because every day I walk on set I just want to do back flips at how happy I am to be here. I would have played street cop number three if it meant getting to work with Chris Nolan but I get to play Catwoman! […] I hope I don’t let him down."

Bale interviewed by Screenrush

Christian Bale was recently interviewed by Screenrush, where he talked extensively about The Dark Knight Rises:

What’s it like shooting in IMAX?

"I have had a little experience from the last one and when we made The Prestige, Chris was experimenting with it. It’s bloody noisy with those cameras but it’s going to be a hell of a great little shot. It makes the audience feel like they’re in it. It’s a lovely piece of machinery."

There is a lot of hype about this film. Was there any doubt in your mind to make another with Chris Nolan again?

"I knew it was going to happen for me because I was contracted to do this film. I had no choice, I would have been sued up the ying yang and be on the street and penniless. Chris has always talked about this being a trilogy and he liked the challenge that an awful lot of movies fail on the third one. There are some exceptions but most of the time that’s the tricky one to pull off."

Are you going to miss playing Batman after this?

"Course I will, yeah. Yeah definitely."

Will you miss wearing the suit?

"For all the discomfort and the heat and the sweat and the headaches and everything from it, when you sit back and watch the movie at the end of the day, you go: “Well, that’s fuckin’ cool.” I will miss the rubber."

Can you talk about Bruce’s relationship with Selina in this movie? How much does he fall in love with her?

"I’m figuring it all out as I go along and I’m seeing Chris sitting on this shoulder here and my producer sitting on this shoulder here going: ‘Don’t say anything!’ I think let’s leave that one until you see the movie."

You are making a trilogy with Chris Nolan –as there is an end movie, does it leave you the freedom to create a good character arc in this movie?

"I have no clue what the audience is going to think about the movie. Thankfully I have Chris who is really great at gauging that. He represents the audience for us on the set. Me, I love the character so much that if it was left to me you’d get a very bizarre Batman movie. He is a fascinating character and then Chris just has to tell me the points when it gets tedious and boring. Chris is remarkably confident at going with his gut and not desiring any safety net. There are a number of times when I say to him: “Are you sure you don’t want me to do a few other variables?” I can do this one, and what if later down track you choose to change this part of the story, in that case we need to change the domino effect. He’s like: “No, no I know what I want.” He’s very firm with it. In honesty, there are probably a lot of stories that can be told with Batman. I like the idea of him growing older and he can’t quite do it as much anymore. But I kind of feel, you have to leave when the going is good and this is when Chris wants to wrap it up. And it’s the right time."

By the third movie is Batman’s drive still fed by the death of his parents?

"It’s all in there. […] He doesn’t want to forget it, he wants to maintain that anger that he felt at that injustice but equally he wants to present this very vacuous soulless persona to Gotham so hopefully no-one will suspect him but will just think he’s a spoiled bastard. But consequently in his most intimate moments he has Alfred, he has Rachel and there is not a whole lot there. And at some point, he’s got to start living. He is seriously behind in terms of life and enjoyment of life. That’s all been sacrificed and at some point, hopefully it’s Alfred’s wish that he will start to live again. Of course this tragedy has defined him but to a degree he’s sacrificed everything that most people would consider worth living for in life and he’s going to have to relearn that, embarrassingly late in life."

Tell us about working with Tom Hardy

"It’s a real good cast. I’ve been working with Tom mostly over the past few weeks, he’s a real fascinating actor. He’s going to be creating some wonderful characters over his career and he’s doing so with this. He’s kind of just gleeful coming into work every day.[…] He’s the real deal. I’m very impressed with him."

Can you talk about crafting fight scenes with Tom?

"We have fantastic stunt guys who have been with us since the first film. This is sort of what we do. They kind of work out what they’d like to see in the fights and Tom and myself come in and bring in the story to the fights, you have to figure a way to tell a story in a fight otherwise a fight by itself can be rather dull."

Star Wars-esque fan posters

Alex Stojanov of deviantArt has made posters for all three of Christopher Nolan's Batman films. They are very similar to the posters for the Star Wars films and can be seen below.

The poster for Batman Begins features Batman (Christian Bale), Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), Ra's al-Ghul (Liam Neeson), Dr. Jonathan Crane AKA The Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) and Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes), as well as the sword fight on the ice between Bruce and Ra's:

The poster for The Dark Knight once again shows Batman, along with The Joker (Heath Ledger), Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and the Batmobile:

Finally, the poster for The Dark Knight Rises once again features Batman and Gordon, but also Bane (Tom Hardy), Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine), Miranda Tate (Marion Cotillard), the Batwing and the brawl between Gotham's police department and Bane's mercenaries:

Tumblers spotted in Quincy, Illinois

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Three camouflaged vehicles were parked outside of Summy Tire, and look exactly like the Tumblers being used in the filming for next summer's blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises.

Terry Woodcock, who is from Quincy, builds and hauls specialty vehicles for the film industry. His work has been featured in Fast Five, Dukes of Hazzard, Drive Angry, and Deathproof just to name a few.

"Once the movie is released, then I can talk about it. But when something is in the works, I'm not. These particular vehicles are supposed to be covered. I lost the tarps yesterday coming in, I've actually got somebody coming over now with tarps and ropes...but you guys beat him here," said Woodcock.

Hathaway praises Nolan, Bale, Cotillard and Gordon-Levitt

In a recent interview with Popsugar, Anne Hathaway praised Christopher Nolan, her director on The Dark Knight Rises, as well as her co-stars Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Check it out at the 3:48 mark:

Hardy talks Pittsburgh, Starbucks comments

Tom Hardy spoke about his experiences in Pittsburgh in a new interview. Skip to 5:15 to hear it:

Hardy recently explained his comments where he compared shooting The Dark Knight Rises to working at Starbucks:

"I'm really sorry if anyone misunderstood what I said about comparing working for a huge franchise to being like working for Starbucks. I didn't mean it like that. I mean, it could have been British Airways. It could have been Virgin, it could have been any huge company."

"I'm human and I do read things and I get hurt. My friends say "Don't read anything , just ignore it". But I do. And I read Comics. And I cry."

$20k spent on trees

It has been revealed that The Dark Knight Rises team has paid over $20k to the town of Pittsburgh to replace trees damaged during filming.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 24 trees in the streets of Pittsburgh were chopped down in order to make the set look like it was being shot during winter. The team was forced to pay thousands of dollars to remove the leafy trees which were originally meant to be plucked as officials worried the trees would suffer permanent damage.

The film's team also donated $20,000 to a non-profit group, the Tree Pittsburgh, in order to get new trees planted in the city.

Hardy: "Nolan is genius"

Tom Hardy has talked about The Dark Knight Rises, commenting on Bane, the film's following, Anne Hathaway's Catwoman costume and Christopher Nolan, whom he calls a genius.

Vid of Oldman, Cotillard and Stewart

Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard, who play Commissioner Jim Gordon and Miranda Tate respectively, were filmed shooting outside the InventHelp buliding in Pittsburgh. In the scene, they appear to be taken hostage by mercenaries led by Bane (Tom Hardy), and are taken hostage on the orders of one mercenary played by Josh Stewart. Since Miranda is generally assumed to be Talia al-Ghul, the daughter of Ra's al-Ghul (Liam Neeson), it will be interesting to see how this scene fits into the plot.

Hardy intimidated by scale of film

During a press conference for his new film Warrior, Tom Hardy spoke about The Dark Knight Rises.

"It's such an honour to be asked to be in Batman, full stop. If I think about it, what I'm doing in it, it would be so overwhelming that I probably wouldn't be able to do the job so I'd rather not talk about it. It's quite a big deal."

Warrior is the story of Paddy Conlon (Nick Nolte), a former boxer whose alcoholism has torn his family apart. In an attempt to patch things up with his youngest son Tom (Tom Hardy), he trains him to compete in a mixed martial arts tournament. This puts Tom on a collision course with his older brother Brendan (Joel Edgerton).

Hardy thoughts on leaked photos

Tom Hardy has shared his thoughts on the leaked images from the set of The Dark Knight Rises:

“I think there’s a certain inevitability if you’re going to shoot in the middle of the street — that it’s very hard to block off the entire street from people taking photographs. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to be anything like the film. You have people taking photographs from a distance of what’s going on on the ground. It bears very little resemblance to what’s going on."
